I'd say it's probably doable within your bank, but I can't think of any reason another bank/HF would hire a DCM analyst with only 6 months experience. I'm assuming you mean a structuring role within DCM. 6 months isn't long enough to really learn your product, so I don't think you'd have time to develop the knowledge that would make you attractive to a different bank or HF. My answer may have been different 6 months ago in the market we had, but certainly now it's not like there is a huge demand for analysts.
what i meant was within the same bank. i just figured, since you deal w/the traders 24/7, it would be a fairly sensible transition, if you show enough interest, etc; thanks for your input luke, anyone else?
Just to be clear, though, I don't think it's a sure thing even within the bank...you'd have to be able to make a strong case why you want to switch, and there would have to be an open position...
