Exiting from IB step by step
Wanted to make this forum to get a clear idea of how to exit from Investment Banking.
About to start as an AN1 at a top group in a MM (Nomura/RBC/Jefferies) and currently considering what I want to do with my life in the future.
Overall, I want to maximise WLB and probably compensation as well.
Was thinking of doing two years in banking and exit to a top BB for prestige at AS. Then from there, maybe take a stint at PE or HF. But problem is I have no idea how to "execute this". Do you mindlessly apply everywhere? Or network? What are the compensation looking like in different careers for IB/PE/HF.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
First off, if you want to maximize WLB and Comp IB is not the right career choice for you.
Just focus on learning as much as you can and performing in your current role. After six months if you like the job then start to think about a lateral but based on your comment regarding WLB I am willing to bet you will be looking to change careers.
