External networking events during SA

Hi monkeys, I see many firms are beginning to host networking events late afternoons or early evenings in the coming month, what is the best way to sneak out of the office to attend these? I'm trying to secure an offer for next summer so networking is crucial as I think my group won't be giving out many offers, but don't want to blatantly say this to my manager. My group starts to clear the office at 8:30-10 and the events are usually 6-8-9pm. What do I do?
