I seen a couple of openings lately and I was thinking of applying to them. Will working for the Federal reserve for a 2 years or allow you to transition into IBD or into any other finance fields? If anybody has any insight I would appreciate it.

Probably depends on where in the NY FED you work. I don't really have too much knowledge (ok - any real knowledge, I'll be honest) but if it's markets based (ie. with FX/rates) then you will certainly deal salespeople and traders who have to service you. If its economics then I'm sure you/colleagues will talk to bank economists, which can maybe segway into economist/strategy positions.
