Feel obligated to stay at my firm because it’s small, is this wrong

So I’m approaching 2 years at my firm; working at a strong consumer M&A boutique but we’re small in terms of headcount. I’ve been on a number of closed projects at this point and approaching the tenure where 1 more year on top of what I’ve done now won’t really tangibly impact my exit, but the people in my group kind of need me to train the next batch of full time hires and support on stuff, etc. I can go work for my dad who is c suite at a public or lateral to an industry/function I care more for which won’t be PE or IB. Should I just be ‘selfish’ and consider dumping them for what I want/need? I’m getting increasingly unhappy staying here given I know we don’t promote for 3 years so I’ll just be an analyst for a long time

Absolutely be selfish - as long as you have done your best in your current role, you should not feel remorse. If you are truly unhappy with the current progression, and also have other opportunities to consider, my take is to do what is best for yourself moving forward. If you wish to help on training some new recruits, then do so, if it gives you peace of mind, otherwise, prioritise yourself. You can always remain friends with the people in your team if you chose to do so.
