Just keep listening. The more reps you get, the more pieces you'll pick up and start to understand. Not at their level, but enough to talk smart and be deadly. I try to sponge up everything I can, just my thing.
To the other person's point, they also feel the same way about certain things we do.
I'm a CPA in FDD. Only a senior associate, there are some very complex accounting issues that I've seen, but there's also a handful of adjustments that sound complex but aren't lol. My biggest issues with the job so far is sometimes we spend so much time in the minute details of some areas, when in the grand scheme of things it doesn't make a difference.
And yes, if we had a call about modeling assumptions or valuations, I'm sure our team would be lost.

This is also my issue with accountants when we are in diligence lol.
The reality is you have duty to your client, and whether the issue has any material impact or not, you have to at least flag it. I still take issue with the time wasting but only begrudgingly :)
You will feel less stupid after about 10 - 12 calls. Just make a list of stuff you do not know and remember to research it later or ask your coworkers about it.

I’m sure accountants feel the same way when you talk about valuation or some shit
What valuation technique is complex lmao😂
If you haven't studied any of them like most accountants haven't then you're not going to have a clue what is going on
Some of them have nuances that can get complex too
Also why do people talk like this "lmao"
