Firm laptop and phone at GS?
Hey guys,
I was wondering what the "state of equipment" is at Goldman at the moment (as all information here is very dated by now).
It seems as if the firm has adopted bring-your-own-device policies recently and does not provide company laptops any more. Is this also true for phones, i.e. will you still receive a phone from them as an analyst?
Asking b/c I will be commencing my analyst stint this summer and have not received information on this yet (and planning to buy a new phone soon if not provided by GS).
Thanks a lot!

bump, fellow incoming analyst here. The lack of information communicated has been annoying
you literally receive nothing. no laptop, no phone, no dinners (only if in office), no WFH stipend. you get jack shit but the name on your resume.
Source: Current analyst in Classic group
Can someone verify is this is accurate? No dinners? No Phone?
Based on my friends: Pre-COVID: no laptop for sure, idk about phone. Now, I know they go into the office (I think in 2 week shifts) so I wouldn't be surprised by no dinners
Can confirm. No laptop, phone, or any kind of WFH materials. Also no dinners WFH, in the office they had dinners but not since we've been home. Don't know about GS discount numbers yet since we haven't hit bonus but heard from past analysts that its pretty bad....
Also a current 1st year in a Classic group.
Verified, you bring your own phone device and install an app called Orbit, you’ll get markups over orbit drive and emails over the mail app.
I heard comp at GS is lower than street, how much lower?
Starting base is 85k unclear about bonus
lol this is fked up, im interning in ST at a no-name bank and I got a laptop

Lol so GS expects you to share your personal phone number with colleagues and client staff? For real? Plus it has to be a smartphone too that can email etc not like a Nokia 3310?
Ridiculous. Why not just go top EB.
Hmm I guess even if they do not give you a phone, they at least pay you a mobile plan, so you have a professional number
They don't. In London they contribute GBP10 to your mobile plan, no kidding.
Nah, you’re supposed to use the Cisco Jabber app and connect through it so you can dial/take calls on your office line. I don’t think anyone actually does this.
Solomon really buckling down on the cost-cutting and transitioning from a partnership model to pleasing the stockholders. If it hurts the bottom line, it's gone. If it stays like this for a longer time, I'd imagine the brand would start to lose prestige
Have a roommate at GS (I go to EB) I think by the end of our two year analyst stint I'll have made ~$125k+ more, seriously don't know why people pick GS if given the chance to go to PJT/EVR/CVP.
Base: $20K+
Signing Bonus: $40k
Bonus: $75k+
Might as well just say you’re at CVP bro lol
Did not see it this year at my bschool
All I know is that Centerview Partners is giving $200K retention bonuses.
