follow up for SA position?

Coming from a non-target(University of Nebraska) I have begun submitting online applications for the 2008 Summer Analyst Programs at most of the BB's as well as some of the bigger MM's. Since I did not have any connections, I just used the online applications. Would it be advised to follow up with a phone call in a few weeks or should I just hope that my resume does get viewed, and they like what I have to offer.

Also, If anyone could offer some suggestions of some Middle Market or Boutique banks that have offices in midwest cities like Chicago, Minneapolis, or Kansas City it would be appreciated.

You need to make a couple contacts (somehow) and email/call them directly, you may be the only Nebraska candidate to make that kind of effort - it will stand out.

PLEASE DONT CHANGE EXCEL SHORTCUTS!!!

how could I make contacts, there is no investment banking presence on campus. The only possible option I could see would be doostang, but even then there is no one from nebraska on there with investment banking experience
