Freaking about Background Check

I just got a 2023 SA offer at a lower MM bank in SF. Two years ago I accepted money from a stranger on the internet (dumb, I know) and got in trouble with my bank. The account was under my parents but my SSN was tied to the account. I think we closed the account before the bank could forcibly close it. Will this show up on a background check?

I wasn’t charged and I don’t think it affected my credit at all. Just wondering if a forced closed account is something they’d look at.

I can't imagine it would show up or how they would discover that information.

Maybe explain what you did. Did you commit a crime? I don't know many situation where banks force close accounts. Having your account closed is not in itself a reason to reject you. It would depend on what you actually did.

Then ask yourself what you would do about it. Are you going to reach out to your contact there and tell them what happened? Are you going to explain what happened on the background check form? Are you going to turn yourself in to the cops? Are you going to forfeit the offer purely out of fear that they'll reject you and then go find another offer only to go through this whole thing again?

Because if you're not going to do any of those things, then it sounds like you might need to just deal with your anxiety and carry on.
