'Front office' equivalent roles at F500 companies

Just wanted to pick your thoughts on what would the 'front office' equivalent roles would be at F500 companies as not all of us will end up being bankers, consultants etc.

My understanding is that sales/any revenue generating department would be the one to gun for.

The guy is asking about front office roles. Corpdev/M&A/finance is back office at F500 - these roles just support the main business. FO equivalents will be sales/product management/marketing. Ops is also respected because unlike in IB, they actually manage the creation and the sale of the product, although not technically considered FO.

Yeah, I guess I read it as "what's considered prestigious" at a F500, as FO = prestige in a bank. Finance roles, in my experience with many F500 firms, are considered more prestigious than marketing/product management and are compensated as such. Unless it's a Hasbro or Mattel where marketing drives the whole engine.

In general, the roles you'd consider terrible at a bank (corp finance, operations, marketing) tend to be considered the more valuable and beneficial at a F500.

Working in industry is a little different because the traditional definitions of what's prestigious or "front-office" is turned on its head since most white-collar workers are at least one step removed from actually earning money (sales excluded depending on the company) and most of the management divisions are cost centers (finance, marketing, etc [one exception is firms that finance their customers, like GE or the auto makers]). J&J's actual day-to-day money-makers are the guys pulling the levers to put the toothpaste in the tube and the guys convincing Walmart to stock an extra foot of shelf space with J&J products.

There have been many great comebacks throughout history. Jesus was dead but then came back as an all-powerful God-Zombie.
