FT Start Dates pushed back = no pay?
Hoping someone in the industry can weigh in. Obviously the situation is fluid and nobody knows forsure.
If other banks follow HSBC by pushing back FT start dates, do you think the banks will pay us from our original start dates? My roommates and I have already solidified a lease and couldn’t imagine floating 4 months of New York rent without our previously expected income.
Contrarian viewpoint here but the idea that people expect to be paid when their start date is pushed back is mind boggling. You aren’t doing any work so why are you expecting to get paid? NYC rental are competitive so usually you wouldn't sign a lease till maybe a month before you move in, many times less.
If a bank notified a week before start then sure but if you’re getting notice months in advance I think thats fair.
I can understand SA getting paid since its only a 10 week program but FT seems a bit different to me.
Because we have made commitments and have attached hope to the start date. I personally for example did not go for my Canada trip. So we do have costs although they are not that tangible.
boo hoo you didn’t get to go to Canada in the midst of a global pandemic that sucks!
your employer should totally consider that you didn’t get to go on your oh so special summer vacation and compensate you for the month
