Future of ib

With recession around the corner economic activities are going to go down and layoffs would be likely.Russian ruble is pegged to gold and the bric nations have a lot of physical gold in their possessions. The usd might end up losing its reserve currency status in the next decade. With all the shit happening what's gonna happen to ib in the future? Should I still pursue an econs degree at a target or do something like math or data science instead.I'll end up graduating in 4 years but idk what's going to happen to this industry when I graduate. Would I still be safe with an economics degree from a target?

A good degree from a target will always be useful. Among all the automation and elimination my employer is doing, IB is probably the least affected one. Our trading team was almost completely replaced with tech, some people remain though who know how to strategize our trades.
