Future on The Street

Hey guys I was wondering how a degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison looks in the eyes of the banks on Wall Street? Obviously it's not at the level of the Ivy's but I think it's pretty respectable. Also is Finance definitely the best major to break into the industry?

People from UW Madison have landed on the street. One of my coworkers on the converts desk hailed from there.

The Big Ten is at the level of the ivies overall. It's a little behind on the sciences and liberal arts, but way ahead on engineering and the practical disciplines. Unfortunately, Wall Street remains oblivious to what people in the rest of the country (including the ivies' graduate admission committees) are well aware of.

You'll be okay, but you'll have to work for it.

I've had friends from UW at my last bank. Just work hard, and you'll make your own reputation.
