Getting the interview - Percent of people receiving offers?
Do people know approx. what percentage of people who are able to get an interview at a place like goldman do end up receiving offers for a summer analyst position?
In other words, how much of the battle is just getting the interview? Thanks
There are two ways of looking at this. From a strict percentage viewpoint, only the people at goldman know for sure. I'd guess that once you get an interview you are about halfway there.
In reality a lot of it depends on your resume and ability to interview. If you are the best interviewee in the world, getting the interview may be 80% of the work for you. For those that lack interview skills, you are still facing a very uphill battle.
it will depend on how many people the company wants to hire from your school. at my target but non-ivy school about 300-400 people submit resumes to gs, of which 40-50 get interviews, of which 3-4 eventually get offers. so as you can see, it is easier here to get an interview than ultimately to get the job. once you get that interview, your competition is down to the best of the best and naturally it will be a crapshoot from there (although you can definitely improve your chances with great interview skills).
