GHL vs SVB Leerink vs WB vs HL

Can anyone provide views on these 3 opportunities? Priorities are generalist (not HC) HF and PE exits, comp, culture

Don't know anything about those SVB and HL groups but know some stuff about Blair and GHL. William Blair HC in Chicago is a solid group (not the firm's best group but still more than enough M&A deal flow to go around the analyst class), and culture there is great. Greenhill SF is not a very good office in terms of deal flow but culture there is top and the people are genuinely good people. Know a couple people at Greenhill SF and they leave office pretty early because there's just not that much deal flow. For comp Greenhill > Blair slightly. For culture both places are great, but Greenhill has much better WLB with the trade-off of much worse deal flow. William Blair Chicago exit opps are very solid for a MM bank, but I'd imagine despite the poor office reputation exits from Greenhill SF would still be better because of the Greenhill brand.

In terms of momentum, Blair is growing massively and GHL is pretty stagnant/shrinking, something to keep in mind.

Blair is probably a bigger franchise than SVB Leerink across the firm (ie if you wanted to switch groups/offices/etc), but healthcare is what Leerink does best. Think you can’t go wrong with either- would see how you gel with the team at both and which location you like most, and either is a great choicr
