Going sober as an analyst?

I like getting blackout in a random overpriced club as much as the next guy, but working till 3 am every night for a week and then using your two nights of recovery to drink until 4 am doesn’t leave a lot of time to feel like a human. Anyone gone sober as an analyst and recommend it? Feels like a good way to actually save all the money we make and have some semblance of a WL balance.

Stopped going out partying on weekends and now do lowkey stuff with my gf instead. Much more relaxed and feel more recharged come Monday. Would highly recommend dialing back the drinking / partying a bit if you want more time to pursue other things or want more balance in your life. You still might not be able to achieve the ideal WLB while working in IB but I’ve found that using free time for self care does wonders. That said, it’s still important to see friends but just take care of yourself because you’ll burn out pretty quickly if you’re partying all weekend and grinding all week.

Tbh I'm still figuring it out myself. I realized that I couldn't devote adequate energy to my relationship if I was also grinding at work and partying with friends so it kind of just made sense to dial it back a bit. I definitely still have FOMO when my friends go out and I'm staying in with my girlfriend but when I wake up feeling great and rested Saturday and I can go do stuff in the city it feels worth it. I think in the long run everyone will kind of slow down and party less and it's important to strike a balance that makes sense for you personally. As long as you don't frame it as an issue of maturity (getting on a soap box and saying that it's immature to go on a bender every weekend) then your real friends shouldn't care if you go out less as long as you stay in touch. I just try to hangout with friends in healthy settings (eg meet up with friends for lunches / dinners rather than pregames / clubbing).
