Goldman Sachs A2A IB

Having trouble finding concrete information on Goldman Sachs A2A process.

What is Associate 1 Salary? I assume it’s the same in all investment banking groups (Classics vs Financing)?

Is there an A2A promotion/sign on bonus?

Approximately what % of those who want A2A get the promotion?

Thanks!

Base salary is the same across all IB roles at GS. Historically, YE bonus may differ a bit as M&A fees are typically larger than the amount received for financing activities (eg DCM or ECM). At the junior level, the pay band is not super noticeable. The pay differential will widen as you become more senior.

I don’t think you’ll get a “promotion” bonus. For context, a sign on bonus is to incentivize one to join the firm. This could be at the analyst (right out of undergrad, post summer internship) or associate level (post MBA summer internship). Once you signed with the firm, they got you on lock. No real reason for them to dish out additional cash.

Truly a rotating door for junior bankers as your performance is not tied to fees earned. You’re largely there for execution purposes / helping out the originators.

Thanks! What’s the difference between Associate 0 and Associate 1? Is Associate 0 to “bridge” you to the non-analyst pay cycle?
