Goldman Sachs Summer 2027 London recruiting

Hi all! Question about Goldman Sachs Summer Analyst 2027 London recruiting. Do you send your application group specific between the Classic Investment Banking, The Mergers & Acquisitions Group and The Financing Group or is it generalist and you have to recruit after your offer by networking and trying to land in your top group. Currently thinking between financing group due to better resume fit and classic investment banking due to networking and interest and want to know if I'll have to make a decision before applications open.

Another question i have is if it is looked unfavorably by banks if you apply to more than one devision, i know in some banks it is, wondering if that's the case for goldman as well.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, Goldman Sachs typically operates a generalist model for its Summer Analyst recruiting in London. This means you apply broadly to the Investment Banking Division (IBD) rather than to specific groups like Classic Investment Banking, Mergers & Acquisitions, or the Financing Group. Group placement often happens after you receive an offer, and networking plays a significant role in landing your preferred group.

Regarding applying to multiple divisions, it is generally not viewed unfavorably at Goldman Sachs. However, it is crucial to ensure that your applications are consistent and tailored to each division, demonstrating genuine interest and alignment with your skills and career goals. Some banks may discourage applying to multiple divisions, but Goldman Sachs tends to be more flexible in this regard.

It doesn't matter: if they like you, one will select you

This is not a good place to do an internship though

Do you mind explaining why?

Lot of pressure and a lot of work too much for an intern

Oh thank you. Are there certain teams that are ore manageable than others? I know FIG, TMT and industrials are really intense but what of the rest

They're all intense so no point trying to gauge by intensity
