GS Sophomore Summer Analyst Program

Hello!

I wqs wondering about the GS Sophomore Summer Analyst Program. An GS HR person told us that they discontinued the sophomore summer analyst program but other students have still gotten sophomore summer placements there - could anyone please provide some insight?

I’m diversity at a target school but really new to and uninformed about the recruiting process - any advice would be very much appreciated!!

Hey there! It sounds like there's a bit of confusion about the GS Sophomore Summer Analyst Program. Based on the WSO content, it seems that Goldman Sachs does offer opportunities for sophomores, but they can be quite competitive. Here's what you need to know:

  • Goldman Sachs Summer Analyst Internship: While it doesn't explicitly state that it is open to sophomores, the program is typically undertaken during the second year of study. This suggests that sophomores are indeed eligible to apply.

  • Application Periods: Historically, there have been multiple application periods throughout the year. For example, in the past, there were periods such as July 1 to Sep 15, Sep 16 to Nov 15, and Nov 16 to Dec 15. It's important to check the current year's application timeline on the Goldman Sachs careers page.

  • Competitiveness: It's acknowledged that securing a spot as a sophomore can be challenging, but it's not impossible. Being at a target school and having a diverse background could be advantageous in your application.

  • Advice: To increase your chances, focus on building a strong resume, prepare thoroughly for interviews, and network effectively. Utilize resources like the WSO Networking Guide, Investment Banking Prep, and other WSO Academy materials to sharpen your skills.

Remember, the landscape of recruitment can change, and sometimes programs are restructured or discontinued. It's always best to get the most current information directly from the source – Goldman Sachs' recruitment team or their official website. Keep an eye out for any insight or exploratory programs they might offer as these can sometimes serve as a pipeline into summer analyst positions.

If you're new to the recruiting process, don't hesitate to reach out to your career services or alumni from your school who have interned at GS. They can provide valuable, firsthand insights into the process and help guide you along the way. Keep swinging through those networking branches, and you'll find the right path!
