Guggenheim IBD Vs. Citi IBD

Was wondering if people can comment on these firms, I have options at both, but having trouble choosing. How do they stack up based on deal flow, culture, comp and exits opps?

Tough choice, but Guggenheim is definitely an EB, not a mm....they routinely work on multi billion dollar deals, including the biggest deal of the year last year in Disney, 21st century fox deal

I don’t know what qualifies an EB exactly but they are a smaller shop that works on multi-billion dollar deals every year...YTD 2018 they have an average deal size of 3+billion and are ahead of the likes of evercore and moelis on league tables with 9 deals alone...no way that is a mm firm

I'm only a sophomore going through recruiting so take it for what its worth.

Spoken quite a bit with people at Guggenheim. Really up-and-coming bank that has closed some really big deals in the past year ($40 billion I think on their website last year). Growing in tech, hc, and industrials, which are all good industries to be in. SA classes have doubled over the past 4-5 years, but that's more of a testament to their growth.

also the analysts all seemed chill and had good camaraderie.

A lot depends on group placement at Citi...in M&A or industrials you’ll get a bunch of looks from funds that might not interview you at Gugg...also real estate at citi has top re exits if you’re interested.
