Have I been blackballed?
I was a contractor at JPM for 7 months before leaving for a perm role to join a European bank.
Loved working at JPM, but it was a contract job and I needed a perm position due to change in family circumstances.
Year and a bit later I’ve been applying for JPM permanent positions that strictly match my CV and not getting any interviews (Senior Associate/VP level) bar one which seemed like a tickbox interview where they’ve already got their man.
I don’t know if leaving JPM left a bad taste in their mouth and I’ve been blackballed ever since.
Am I over thinking things?
The market is just shit right now
You need to reconnect with people who you worked with. Applying without internal support is an extremely low probability of success regardless of your resume.
Get back in touch, feel the vibe of the group(s) you're targeting and pick your spot.
My guy, no one is blackballing a contractor who wasn't fired for cause - you're literally not even on their database as an FTE.
