Hired Full-time due to extenuating circumstances

Has anyone heard about one getting an internship out of a top tier b-school but that offer has been converted to a full-time offer without even doing the internship due to a medical or a visa sponsorship-related issue at an investment bank? Have heard many such instances of offers being converted to a FT one instead when it comes to consulting at MBBs and Big4s but is this something that could be possible at an IB as well? If yes, then what banks typically allow/accommodate for this?

At what bank and from what college? Seems like if they like you, they want to give you a shot if you get selected for the intern role.

Visa issue - almost certainly no, unless it's something completely insane, unforeseen, and won't happen again, such as the handful of people one year who got randomly denied for the TN visa at the Canadian border and could not get in at all (and even then, my firm asked them to just work out of Canada offices).

Medical - potentially but would be very situation-dependent. Would have to be very severe to the point you cannot work, but also something they are confident won't impact you starting full time next year.

I'd say it is much less bank-dependent and more situation-dependent; for most scenarios if you can't complete the internship you wouldn't get an offer, so it would have to be something truly unusual and unforeseen; we are 6+ months from internships starting so they can still easily fill your seat with an intern if you know it'll be a problem this far out.

If you say what is happening, people could be more helpful on whether or not this is something banks would consider.

There is a potential offer coming my way this summer however, there are some visa-issues that might keep me from interning until I complete my graduation. Do you think the firm would probably offer me an internship next year in 2025 after my graduation or atleast get me a guaranteed interview for internship/FT in 2025? And also do you think I should bring this issue up with the firm more closer to the internship start date leaving little leeway for them to look for other interns or would addressing it straight after receiving the offer be more beneficial for me?
