Hot Take: I Vastly Prefer Working With Chicks
Mind you this is 100% a generalization and painting with a broad (no pun intended) brush. But I work for a pretty diverse bank gender-wise and I have to say, the women VP+ level employees are really friggin efficient and respectful with the junior bankers. There's just way less ego, bloviating, pride of ownership, no-value add comments, etc.
Even when we are doing investor calls and management presentation it seems like the women on the client/investor team are way less likely to bloviate and be all around big-ego or contentious people to work with. Shit even executing NDAs with women is easier because they don't view getting menial edits to stick as a dick measuring contest.
Obviously there are plenty of exceptions but I'm just curious if anyone else feels this way?
Ehh i’ve worked with females who were huge fucking assholes and some of the worst people i’ve ever worked with. Don’t think this is a gender thing, but an industry issue instead.
I’ve worked with and for horrible men and women…the sample size for women was worse because there are so few in senior positions
Umm no...quite the opposite for me
I've had mixed experiences, think it just comes down to the person. My group has way more women who stay on to be A2A's and beyond which I think is a bigger factor than gender.
One thing I've found mid-level women are really sympathetic about though is if you have a commitment with a GF they seem to be way more understanding of it. Like if you need to take a Friday or Saturday night off to have dinner with your GF or her family they always seem to be OK with it compared to some men who I work with who joke about skipping the event or how they hate spending time with their in-laws or something. That being said, this was really annoying when I was single as I was rarely/never able to take a few hours off since I never had a "good" excuse but my post-MBA associate with a serious GF and the VP (woman in question) would regularly be offline at these crucial times. I am of the opinion that all-time should be treated equally (save for seniority) and time with the boys is just as important as time with an S/O. I told another analyst on my floor I noticed this about some of the women VP's / senior associates and he just made up a girlfriend to get the occassional Thursdays/Fridays off, so pro-tip if you need a breather.
I hate working with everyone
we'd get along famously
OP, it's super hard to generalize. having had to be mediator between a trio of ladies bickering over this or that, and also having to preside over arguments among the (at the time) all male partners of my group, I can say with confidence both sexes have equality in terms of the potential to be assholes and add no-value comments to a presentation (have seen this from myself, my male partners, and my female partners). I'm sure there's some pop psychological answer that women have higher scores of agreeableness and therefore work better in group settings, but idk how much stock I put into non-repeatable survey type things like that.
just like you shouldn't particularize from the general, don't generalize from the particular
you must be having good orgys in your place
She's not coming back man
So you think pride of ownership is a bad thing?
Wow, even get ms'd for just asking the question too. The snowflakes are growing in numbers. Good thing I have virtually infinite bananas, try again junior.
Not when "pride of ownership" means "pride in instructing junior employees to take ownership of time-intensive updates that provide no value".
If "pride of ownership" means someone is going to run with the no value-add comments they want to see incorporated, on their own time, and take ownership of the final product if it looks shitty - then yeah, that's cool.
That's not pride of ownership imo. Personally, if you cannot accomplish the task you are asking of someone else then you have no right to ask it. Unfortunately that seems to be a rare attitude of "senior" people, especially in finance.
If talking about coworkers + employees under you, absolutely.
If talking about supervisors, no chance - patriarchy all the way.
Female seniors are more likely to lash out/ take their personal life frustrations out on underlings ime
Pure facts
Do you work with beasts? Feel like that's just the ones that need to get fucked, not dissimilar to men.
Yeah, this one's an ice cold take
No girls allowed in the cardboard box fort >:(
For the most part it's true for me, just can't stand the ones that really play the politics game and not a great analyst...
1. go to a mirror
2. apply clown make up
3. neck yourself over and over and over again
4. repeat step 3
