How Back Office is Strategy?

It seems like most of the "strategy" roles in banks are functionally BO laterals, usually filled by promoting up BO analysts who went through corporate or finance training programs.

I have both IBD and Credit Risk experience. I'm currently considering at a role that's labeled within the "risk strategy" spectrum. Definitely not revenue generating, but its client facing in the sense that you attend meetings with the Fed, OCC, SEC and represent the BB. I like that theres a "client-facing" feel even though its not directly revenue generating (which means that the hours are really good).

As for salary: all the bases seem to be aligned with the Front Office bases (Associates starting at $125K, EDs starting at about a $350K base). Bonuses between 10% - 30% of base.

In terms of prestige, exit opps, grunt work, and potentially feeling under-stimulated, how would you perceive a role like this? I'm looking for good hours, but definitely not hoping to be in a mentally under-stimulating place.
