How do I build and leverage a network?

Hello WSO,

I’ve been extremely lucky and blessed to be able to have family connections to some MD level players across different banks and PE firms. I would say that they know who I am (most of them) but we wouldn’t keep in much contact. I want to start to build these connections so that they can help me down the road with SA and FT recruiting but also be there to give me advice on my financial career.

How do I start, should I asking to meet for coffee, or simply push my resume forward/help me with the job process? Should I ask for a phone call? Should I be updating them regularly about recruiting at their bank? I don’t want to come off as I am using them. I want to build these relationships so that we can each benefit each other down the line. I want to come off as polished and professional when speaking to them.

I need a plan…. Please help.

its why people write articles, so people can read and then remember what they read. If they read it here, there is a pretty damn good chance that they will never remember it
