How Dumb would it be to ask for the receptionist's number?

Met the receptionist when I brought my mom to show her the office and have talked a couple of times since. She was probably just being friendly (basically her job)....but what if?

The thing is that there are usually several receptionists around (big office). So if it's a miss, it'll be instantly known, at least among the receptionists.

I do understand that with so many options, why the receptionist? This is why I am seeking advice from more experienced professionals.

Unsure of the risk-reward on this one.

Why don’t you try to escalated things slowly instead of asking her number? That might be too direct and it’s almost guaranteed a loss, while if you talk more, ask more etc. then you might be casually asking her out. I still wouldn’t do it, but if I had to I would try to talk a bit more and the ask what she does over the weekend and if she says “nothing special” you can go like “I am actually going to X museum/X event (possibly chill stuff), would you like to join?”
So you are still reducing the risk as you were already going without her

What attracts you to her? You could find someone more educated and accomplished
