lol. No, not years, but it could be a while. There is no limit. Here's a good rule of thumb however, submit it and call back to check on the status a week and a half later. (Nobody gets to your resume right away, so that's why it has to be more than a week.)
What if you submit multiple applications online? Would it still be a good idea to call each one? Or should you track each application online and not bother the recruiting offices?
I understand they want to see that your interested but in some of my cases (summer internships), it doesnt seem feasible to call someone mainly because I have no idea who I actually sent it to.

i submitted a few online applications as well. they didn't list specific contact names or numbers.
I'm starting to think that the BBs intentionally make their websites unclear and cryptic as an added stress test to us all.
Think about it like this though...IB is basically the cream of the crop of all the jobs you can really get into, so none of us can really complain (i'm the only one really complaining haha).
How long does it take banks to let you know if you get an interview/rejected? (Originally Posted: 11/14/2012)
So basically, I applied to 8 IB summer analyst positions in NY, London, and Chicago. This was all submitted late october/early november. I have friends who submitted around the same time as me, and they have already heard back - with some landing interviews, and some not getting in. For all 8 applications, my application status still says "Application under review" or something of that nature, and it's been 2 weeks so far. Also, for the London positions, I did take some online math and logic tests but that was literally right after I submitted my app.
I'm guessing (not really sure tbh) that I haven't been rejected yet, but I'm being weighed against future applicants maybe? My GPA is pretty low (3.3), and I'm a sophomore math major in a non-ivy target (berkeley/duke/northwestern/uchicago type), and I interned at a botique last summer for 6 weeks as well.
Thanks!
Maybe yes, maybe no. Keep applying!
I would wait a bit longer but usually it's not a good sign. Either you're on hold/borderline or the system is just slow in rejecting.
Follow up with them to check on the status of your app. Keep applying to other places too.
