Seems like a lot of banks have lateral postings from late March/early April still posted. would applying/networking with these groups be a waste given this long the postings have been up?
I would assume that most postings 4-6+ weeks old are just ones that were neglected from being taken down.

Yes most postings are already expired by the time you see them. I recently lateraled and the process was concluded in 3 weeks from posting date

One thing to keep in mind. Most larger banks are busy hiring and a lot of these analyst and associate postings are still up because they need multiple bodies in the seat. Even if they have already hired for the role, that doesn't mean they don't need additional people for the exact same role.
Most lateral postings are evergreen, especially now, or if not they still often need 2-3+ people for each spot. Absolutely apply to everything
do you recommend reaching out to people at the firm first before applying to the job posting? or fine to just apply directly for the sake of time?
