How to back out of a full time offer?

This post isn’t to correct me. I understand it isn’t ideal. I did it anyway.

Full time offer in ops.

I received the offer early on and they told me I could think about it but called and called and emailed and emailed. I accepted it to have a job after graduation.

Pay sucks and it’s in ops. I’ve got better options now.

How do I reject them?

Call?

Email?

What are the repercussions that I will face?

Is this from a BB firm? If so - there will be repurcussions in that you won't probably be able to work there in the future and you'll piss off whoever pulled for you. I would recommend that you call - its the more honorable thing to do but if you want to rip off the band-aid just write an eloquent email explaining that it is no longer the best fit for you.

Will they try and intervene and steer other employers away from me the firm is pretty much contained and the people don’t usually have great exits.

Are there lasting career impacts?

How unprofessional really is it?

I found a better option. Can you blame me?

Tbh if I started there I’d be looking and likely quit at the first exit op even if it was a week later.

Do whats best for you. Any company will lay you off without even thinking about it. Yes it's unprofessional but you need to look out for yourself. End the relationship amicably, but even still don't tell them where you're going, and keep it off LinkedIn etc for the near future.
