How to become an I-Banker with a BA in English

Sad, I know. However, I'm 28 years old and have spent four years working in the corporate world as a purchasing agent, now for one of the biggest home builders in the US, and previously for L'Oreal and Lockheed Martin.

I'm applying for internships in my city of Tampa, but is there anything that I can do to stand out? Also, any recommendations?

Thanks!

Thanks everyone! I'll be applying to grad school in 2014. Also, does having a CPA help as well, or not so much?

It is my understanding that the CPA would be a plus for IB jobs, but is by no means enough of a differentiator to justify the cost for you at this point. As others have mentioned, focus on getting your MBA as well as catching up on your own in finance/accounting.
