How to calculate Total Debt
Can someone please explain how are we getting a net debt of 3.4 million here?
http://www.google.com/finance?q=NYSE:SCX&fstype=ii
It is short term debt+ long term debt- cash right? So that comes to be 25.47+.71-21.73= 4.4.
Am I missing something?
are you netting out minority interest?
I guess they are just taking into account the capital lease+ Long term debt= 2.7+.71=3.4
yes capital leases. u may have to adjust rent expense if they dont capitalize leases if you are doing comps.
don't forget current portion of liabilities
Got it. They are adding Capital Leases and Long Term Debt= 2.7+0.7= 3.4.
What about the EBITDA? How does yahoo show it as 12.73M? http://finance.yahoo.com/q/ks?s=SCX+Key+Statistics If EBITDA= Operating Income + Depreciation + Amortization then it should be equal to : -2.12+10.04+1.21=9.13M I am looking at the financials over here. http://www.google.com/finance?q=NYSE:SCX&fstype=ii Both data are as of most recent quarter, so they should match.
agree with PA
Are you seriously asking this question? The above responses are OK but I would suggest creating your analysis and back ending it into some public filings to figure out if your approach is good. Practice makes perfect.
dude, chill out on this guy

I am new to accounting, and I am really confused about what total debt includes. I've seen the liabilities section below, but I do not know how to categorize each account.
Current Liabilities: * Deferred Revenue
* Accounts Payable * Income Tax Payable * Gift Card Payable * Accrued Compensation & Benefits * Accrued Expenses * Current portion of long-term debt and capital lease obligation * Current portion of deferred lease credits
Long-term Liabilities: * Other liabilities * Deferred Income Tax * Long-term debt and capital lease obligations, net of current portion * Deferred lease credits, net of current
I hope to know what accounts should belong to total debt. How should I fill out the form below?
Thank you very much!!!!!!
