How to get deal experience as a VP (new to banking)
Hi,
I recently moved from equity capital markets to investment banking, and am currently a 1st year VP in a healthcare coverage group. I have been in my current role for 6 months now, but have not had any deal experience (have worked on a ton of pitches, but none of them resulted in a deal).
I'm wondering if the lack of deal experience is something I should be getting concerned about, and if it would be ok for me to speak with my boss about getting more exposure.
Would love to hear any thoughts on this.
Thanks!

It says you worked at JPM so surprising you haven't been on any deals in 6 months as a VP. I worked at a MM but it'd be surprising for people (VP's particular) to not be on any live deals. I'm not sure if it's a reflection on your group or a weird pipeline issue but yes, I think it's fair to go to a director or MD, who you're close with, and ask them about it. Instead of complaining, I'd frame it as "what have you been seeing on live deals", "what does pipeline look like", etc.
