How to not feel like cement and being been hit by a bus every morning
Long days, early mornings, late nights.
It's not rocket science that we're destroying our bodies working long hours. Wondering if any monkeys have tools and tricks for working and sitting for long periods of time but not feeling like absolute garbage the next day.
Open to hearing about stretch and workout routines, cold plunges, substances, whatever. Help me feel flexible again.
End your showers cold, body squats and push-ups as soon as you wake up, drink a full bottle of water before you have any coffee and no coffee after ~3 pm
I have a 15-20 min stretching routine that I force myself to do every night. Had some back pain when I first started so the routine really helped
What atreches or routines do you follow?
Nothing super specific. Lower back pain can be attributed to tight hamstrings and hip flexors so mainly stretches targeting those, in addition to stretches for glutes/groin/etc.
Cold shower and coffee brother. Still feel like shit for the first half of the morning but as the work picks up, adrenaline always kicked in and felt fine for the remaining of the day
Total War pre workout then gym, then mindset, then feel like shit
1) Cold shower every morning - deep breathing through your nose into your stomach the whole time and avoid the panic rapid breathes to your chest
2) Plenty of water in the morning (i have cold water to keep me awake rather than having coffee - I would rather save the effectiveness of coffee for when i really need it)
3) Don't eat breakfast (keeps you alert - sucks for the first week)
4) Do PPL split workout at least once through during M-F (If I finish before 1am, I will go to the gym, as soon as I get home)
5) Don't drink (makes you feel sluggish and also is a waste of time if its a sub 50% turn out for team drinks - better off going home and sleeping)
6) Buy a foam roller and use it on your upper back, hamstrings and quads everyday
7) Prioritise protein in your diet
8) if you have free weekends, always do something new eg bouldering, swimming, walking around the park, go to a new restaurant etc (better if you leave the house, and be outside - makes for a change of the M-F rat race and also keeps you sane)
9) go for a walk around the block at like 4pm during the work day with a close mate who you can chat shit too and bitch about work with (obviously someone who you trust - good to have a mini vent session midway through the day)
10) Sleep with your curtains / blinds open - makes the waking up process really easy and acts as a natural alarm clock too
One tiny grav bong before hopping in the shower gets my serotonin flowing a bit. Sometimes I accidently take a bigger one than I need though. Then I end up getting to the office and just staring at my blank computer screen for a few minutes before I snap out of it and remember what I'm here to do.
real.
