How to Quit Summer Internship????
Hi, I'm currently in a "summer internship", where I'm actually expected to continue working during the school year (part time) and into next Summer. Of course, when I applied/interviewed I told the hiring manager that I would agree to do this, but the plan was always to quit end of summer, in preparation for IB recruitment. I now have a legitimate excuse since I've been offered a junior analyst role at a boutique IB during the school year.
I've never been in a position where I plan on formally resigning, so wanted to get some advice from anyone who has ever been in a similar position. FYI, I performed well during the summer, and want to burn as few bridges as possible so that I can have at least one referral for the future.
Any advice is appreciated,
Thanks
I had a similar experience, best thing to do us just be straight up. End it on a very professional note and make sure to do it at a time and place where they're not stressed or angry.
Best of luck.
Did you give 2 weeks notice? This is something Ive been debating, as I have a suspicion they may drop me as soon as I let them know. Kind of wanted to get an extra paycheck...
No, my case was unique I guess. I worked 20 hrs will in school and shifted to 40 in the summer but then I told them around June that I had to end early for other on-campus obligations. They understood and we're actually having a get-together with the whole team the weekend after I leave.
As a friendly piece of advice, you should give them two weeks notice. It's the professional thing to do and finance is actually a very small world.
