Hypothetically, good PE or top BB?
Hypothetically, lets say you are a top candidate who has several offers to choose from (as a summer/full-time analyst).
You can pick any BB (GS, MS, etc.) or boutique (PW, Greenhill, lazard, etc.)... but you cant pick your group (however, you are a top candidate, so you can get what you want with a 75% probability).
You can also go into PE as an analyst. Since PE is getting bigger, they want to hire a few undergrads and MBAs. Theoretically, you will get the same work, but of course you need to catch-up first. These are not the mega PE funds, but still top players. (Warburg Pincus, Apax, Bain, GS Capital partners... etc.)
Which of these would you choose?
pretty much had this same choice to me this past fall. i chose the bank.
I'd pick bank because I think its nice to develop the skill set of two years in banking before making the move to PE. Just a personal opinion.
depends on if your ultimate goal is PE. if it is, then why wait?
which place blahblahblah (if i may ask)?
