I am an MBA with about 4 yrs of property management experience, how do I get into this?
I am currently finishing my MBA at UM Dearborn in August, and I have just gotten a job at a tiny management consulting firm in sales, they have this management program (to fast track you to management in a year for new offices they are opening), but it is mostly just meeting sales quotas, but it is mostly just meeting sales quotas, cold calling, and door to door sales. I have a background in car loan underwriting, and property management only, and my Undergrad was from MSU in Biology, so all I get are property management or Biology offers. I have been applying since November to tons of banking, supply chain, and consulting jobs, my main goal being finding either a consulting or banking gig, supply chain being my back up as it is my concentration. I currently see little use in doing a Finance concentration since it won't teach me the skills to be successful in modeling which is key to investment banking, as I have learned from friends. I am very open to moving to NYC, I have a support base there, but I am having no luck landing a Relationship Banker job much less an Investment Analyst and I am not getting into an of the Development Programs for Investment Bankers or MBAs. I'll add that I do not have any FINRA certification and I learned from a contact in the industry that most of the Series 63 and 65 certs can only be attained through a program, but I might be able to get Series 7 on my own. I really want to get into Investment Banking or Consulting at least, What advice do you have? I am having trouble even entering wealth management, even with a contact at a Bank. My goal is investment banking, but I have tried other fields because I continue to fail, and banking in general seems uninterested in hiring me. Only Meryll Lynch got back to me to be in wealth management but gave me an impossible demand to attain millions of dollars worth of clients, I am only 26 and I don't have those types of contacts. Should I write the Series 7 and get my CFA perhaps. What kind of entry level finance job would I need to break into investment banking? I need to leave property management because it is a family gig, and it is going nowhere, also I enjoy finance, please do give me advice, I am lost. Network hard, but you’re really out of luck. It’s much harder to overcome a non-target MBA than a non-target undergrad degree. Your best bet is to apply to commercial banking jobs and network with commercial bankers as well as real estate.
So is it worth it learning excel financial modeling on my own or taking separate classes outside? Should I maybe buy a list of contacts with which to network with, I see websites selling lists of people in investment banking that can be networked with.

I have been applying to large consulting firms for associate/entry level generalist, biology/medical, real estate, and management consulting roles since March, with no luck. Any advice on what I could do differently?
