I am quitting after one year

I'm planning on putting my 2 weeks in the moment my bonus hits. Have about a month left. I Will have only made it one year but banking just isn't for me.

Any tips on how to go about the next monthish? Should i just chill out / close laptop at 11 every night?

Be professional. Give your best - you have no-one left to judge you anymore, so you should work relatively stress free. Treat every interaction as a networking opportunity, and every work stream as an opportunity to learn something new. Read primers, dig through past deal folders to learn more about different businesses (not transactions);  be a sponge. Very few jobs will get you access to strategic materials - use that while you can. Once you leave, you will never have access to any of this.

Never leave on a bad footing. Our star analyst left in 2021 but burnt a whole lot of bridges in the way they acted in their last 4 weeks. Now instead of being remembered as someone who was top of their class, everyone recalls the pain it was to work with them in their closing days. Don't be that person, if you can help it. Best of luck!

In the same boat - would love to know if you had something lined up ? If yes, how did you manage to prep for interviews ? Seems super hard to me given the hours

Agreed with the above, definitely finish on high note.

I just left after one year for buy side and stayed a full month after giving notice. Had three 5am nights last month and definitely had a few “why am I doing this to myself right now” moments.  But after leaving I had several MDs and seniors call out how much it meant to them I ended on a high note even after not staying two years. They’ll appreciate it and even told me I could come back if I so chose one day.  Feels good to maintain the connections for two to four weeks of work.
