I want to drop out of my Mfin program but I have an IB offer

Hello guys so I interned at an NYC bank this summer and loved the experience of work and earning money for the first time. I received a FT return offer for summer next year and can't wait to go back.

I lost my dad from COVID right before the internship but was able to work through and grieve. I started my masters this fall and I can't seem to focus on schoolwork anymore.

The syllabus is so quant heavy and I feel like it is useless coupled with the fact that its all online. I have been on an IB floor and know I don't need to know algorithmic trading or black Scholes fundamentals to do my job. Moreover, I feel like my dads death if affecting me more now. I am back to being a broke student for the next year and don't have the pillars of support of steady income or my dad to make me feel stable.

I can't bring myself to go to class and have been failing homework so its looking like even if I finish I may not hit the 3.2 GPA my bank requires.

Should I try and reach out to HR and let them know now or wait till the fallout is guaranteed. What do you guys think I should do, I hate this course so much. Do you think my offer will be rescinded?

Pull yourself together bro. Would your dad want you to fail out and lose your ib offer? I don’t think so. He worked his whole life to help you and make sure you’re successful. If you were able to get an ib offer i know you can pass some finance courses! Its early in the semester. You’ve fucking got this.
