As a freshman at UMich, I would say take this time now that you have gotten into a great school to start prep-ing for all of the Finance clubs (At Michigan there are a tremendous amount). By preparing I mean get some more bullets on your resume. Maybe do an online financial modeling course. Try to get a summer internship for this summer in a related industry.

Why the finance clubs are helpful: The older people in the club already have jobs and are there for you every step of your recruiting process. Those who were in the club and are now working jobs are always happy to hop on a call with you and help you out.

I do not know much about UChicago other than that it is a very sweaty school. I do not even know if they have clubs but it should be very easy for you to find that information out.

Doing things to gain finance specific experience if you don't have it already will not only give you a leg up with the learning curve, but also make the interviews much easier given that you can actually discuss concepts. I know from experience that they LOVE to grill kids on things and enjoy the power dynamic. I got rejected from a lot of the good clubs after I got first round interviews which was honestly shocking. If you get rejected keep trying. It is worth it.
