Applications open for ur junior summer this winter, start prepping technicals now, interviews will be in February-April of sophomore year for EB/BB, start networking in the fall. Sophomore summer internships will have less formal processes, not too difficult to find something relevant, network with small IB and PE shops throughout sophomore year until you land something, ideally before junior summer recruiting starts to add it to ur resume for interviews

People often say network but how do you network to the point where you get an internship out of it? I like to think that I’m pretty solid with networking and that I keep up with the relationships I have formed. But how does it become something bigger.

Also when networking, should I aim to interact with an associate/analyst or go higher and do VP/Md/Partners?

It really doesn’t have to be something bigger, everyone knows it’s fairly transactional, just make good impressions on people during networking calls, if at target, your school will likely have specific campus reps that are alumni, make sure to network with them, typically analysts are most involved in the recruiting process for summer analysts at BB/EB so focus on them, but can also reach out to associates and VPs
