IB -> MBB

Hi, I have been wondering about my planned career path and I am looking for drawbacks I might have missed.

I am planning to do 1-2 years banking solely for resume reasons (it will give me an edge over fellow consultants too), followed by MBB. The reason for that is I am not certain if I really want to stick to the buy side. This path would, in my view, keeps the door open for PE, corporate roles or staying long-term in MBB with better WLB, with lower pay though.

I find it compelling, since I still can land a job at PE shops and, more importantly, I am not limited to corp M&A roles, I can aim at C-suite roles in the long run.

Please share your views with me, if I am missing something in the big picture.
