GS, not even close. GS FIG is widely regarded as a top group on the street on they lead many of the FinTech IPOs and do well across FIG. JPM and MS also do pretty well across FIG and are especially known for their banks / depositories teams. All have brutal cultures. BofA and Citi are next and are fine but have fallen a bit over the past couple years, still pretty strong though. Shout out to Piper Sandler as well as they might have the best banks team on the street (Sandler O'Neil people), pretty weak in the other FIG verticals though.
Second this, would say GS / JPM / Citi / BofA lead the FinTech vertical in terms of deal size and deal flow at the BB level.
For MM, constantly see Piper / KBW (Stifel) on many respective mandates.
FIG is the largest industry for IB coverage. most any BB/EB group + Piper + KBW will get good deal flow
Sandler is great but still takes on a metric fuckload of sub $50mm engagements on both the capital raise and M&A side.
Does KBW?
Doesn’t most fintech sit in TMT?
Depends on the bank. For GS, MS, JPM, BofA, and C its largely in FIG. Barclays and CS have it more in TMT. It can depend on specific verticals with in FinTech. For example, many of the FinTech software focused names are covered out of TMT.
there is still a fintech group in CS fig
Fin tech is mostly covered out of FIG. software for financial services sector is not really fintech per se… so it is covered out of TMT
Buldge in FIG/Fintech: GS JPM
Independents in FIG: Laz and Perella
