This is something I already commented on:

Doubling this: DO NOT

let me try again

DO NOT come to Imperial for the EFDS programme.

It's an awful programme that's hashed together as a money grab with the Imperial branding. There's not much more I can say.

Just go to Cambridge!

But in defence of the EFDS juniors, I think there are more than 1 offers given to EFDS students but it's Barclays / HL

I would not expect a GS / JPM / MS offer from that cohort at the moment.

But surely the imperial name would be at least equal to that of ucl econ. Ik it’s a cash grab but it seems to interest me over pure economics, which is sometimes quite boring. Also ppl get into top BBs from Warwick etc, so is that a problem of the cohort level itself or the course?

No it's not the STEM side of the uni that runs the course: it's the business school and that's been around a lot less longer.

It's like saying Cambridge econ compares to Judge Business School MFin because they both have Cambridge in their name.

Ultimately, Data Science and Finance are things you can always study from a book or external training material. I'd go for UCL econ on the grounds that it's an established course that will (probably) give you modules on data science and finance as well.

Would take UCL here coming from a UCL Econ undergrad who is pursuing Imperial’s MFin in their biz school. The imperial name you are referring to with respect to the degree is massively overrated, everybody knows Imperial’s biz school is nowhere close to the pedigree of their STEM school. UCL’s econ pipeline is much more established for recruiting generally. Imperial’s biz school is still good but just not as good as you are implying

I study at Imperial in STEM but know a few people in the efds first cohort. Seems like placements in IB are okay (know like 4 people, 3 have mid tier BB), but def a tier below STEM cohort.

Yep I've seen the odd Barc / HL offer in their cohort but I think someone needs to remind the EFDS lot that they're from the business school so they should stop mentioning their uni as "Imperial College London" but instead "Imperial College Business School"
