Informational call worse than informational interview

Morning all, I was lucky enough to wake up this morning to an email from HR at a top BB saying that they were told to schedule an informational call with me in the next week. I have been reaching out to alumni and basically anybody I could get in touch with so definitely happy something got through to HR. Im curious however what exactly an informational call really entails.

When reaching out to alumni or someone I'm interested in speaking with, obviously i don't say hey heres my resume please pass it on to HR so they will interview me. I say something like I'm really interested in the industry and what you do and I'd love to hear more about your job or about the recruiting process at your firm. I can't tell if the call is more them discussing the recruiting process at the firm, in which case it isn't really them vetting me at all for an interview in the future, or if its a good sign that I might get a first round and that I'm getting looked at. Any information would be much appreciated if anybody has had one of these before, and just to clarify this is in the IBD division.
