Internal Mobility Advice BB

Currently AN2 at a BB bank. Have always had great relationship with managers and stellar feedback / top bucket compensation.

However, I am in more of a DCM/Financing role when I really have always been more interested in M&A / corporate advisory. Looking to explore options internally, but on the fence about (a) doing so behind my managers back in case things don’t go as planned or (b) being super upfront and honest with my manager on the chance he will help me with finding a new role in the bank. Looking for any advice.

Also, if I hold back on the move a year or two, do we think this would substantially hurt my chances of being able to mobilize?
