Q&A: Internship Help Forum
Just accepted an IB NYC role and wanting to give back to the community and hoping to answer or help you all in any way possible. I always wish I had someone who was a little older than me that could provide some insights on how to fix a resume, prepare for interviews, and help with navigating the application process as a whole. Happy to answer any questions and hoping to be of some help!
Hi, can I DM you? Would love to connect!
Just shot you a dm thanks!
Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some key insights and resources that could help you guide others effectively:
Resume Tips: Direct users to resources like the thread "I'll help you with your CV (Top IB VP)" (url: https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forum/resume/ill-help-you-with-your-cv-…). This thread offers professional advice on common resume mistakes and how to stand out.
Interview Preparation: Encourage candidates to focus on both technical and behavioral aspects. For technicals, resources like the "Investment Banking Interview Prep" guide are invaluable. For behaviorals, emphasize the importance of crafting unique "Why IB" and "Why this firm" stories, as highlighted in WSO threads.
Networking and Application Process: Stress the importance of building relationships and being bold in outreach, as mentioned in "Two Internships Later: What I wish I Knew While Recruiting!" Confidence and likeability are key traits to showcase during networking and interviews.
Internship Success: For those preparing for internships, recommend brushing up on financial modeling and Excel skills using WSO's "Financial Modeling Resources" and "Excel Resources." Additionally, remind them to focus on being proactive, asking questions, and forming good relationships with team members.
Feel free to share these insights and direct users to these resources for more detailed guidance!

how hard is it to get an IB offer? did you go to an elite school?
Definitely hard but I went to a state school in the northeast (think any school in ME,VT,NH,MA,RI) my school was nothing special but there’s always a network no matter where you go!
how did you leverage your network? did you ask for referrals? interview practice etc.?
Can I have a referral? 😛 please
Can I have $50? 🤪 please
sure but not for citibank
