Interview Case Study Modelling Prep

Hi Monkeys

I have a 2 hr DCF valuation case study to do and 'm quickly running out of case study materials to work to and check results with. If anyone had some mock modelling interview case studies they could share that would be great.

Also how tf are you meant to be efficient on a 50 year old laptop when locked in a torture chamber

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some resources and tips to help you prepare for your DCF valuation case study:

Resources:

  1. DCF Modeling Training - Free Guide: This guide will provide you with the foundational knowledge and step-by-step instructions to build a DCF model.
  2. Financial Modeling Templates (.xlsx): Utilize these templates to practice and refine your modeling skills. They can serve as a benchmark to check your results.
  3. Private Equity Interview Questions: Reviewing these questions can help you understand the types of questions and scenarios you might face in your case study.

Tips for Efficiency:

  • Preparation: Familiarize yourself with the DCF model structure and key components before the interview. This includes understanding the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement.
  • Practice: Use the financial modeling templates to practice building models from scratch. The more you practice, the faster and more accurate you will become.
  • Time Management: Allocate specific time blocks for each section of the DCF model. For example, spend the first 30 minutes on revenue projections, the next 30 minutes on cost projections, and so on.
  • Keyboard Shortcuts: Learn and use Excel keyboard shortcuts to speed up your modeling process.
  • Focus on Key Drivers: Identify and focus on the key drivers of the business you are valuing. This will help you make more accurate projections and save time.

Additional Resources:

  • 101 Investment Banking Interview Questions: This can provide additional context and practice for the types of questions you might encounter.
  • WSO Company Database: Research companies similar to the one in your case study to understand industry-specific metrics and benchmarks.

Remember, practice and preparation are key to performing well in your case study. Good luck!
