Interview Etiquette
I have a superday on Friday for WB SA and now that its almost upon me I am thinking of all the little things I don't know the answer to.
Its a little bit more than an interview since its like an insight program so we're there a couple days and it culminates with the final round interview before they send us home.
Will they have my resume in front of them? And since I have updated my resume somewhat since applying, nothing major, should I only bring old copies or no copies or new copies or what?
They told us that on Friday we'll have to bring suitcase to the office, since have to check out of hotel. Since I'll have my suitcase I am assuming we will have somewhere to put it but in general would you bring your backpack to an interview? Leave it somewhere or bring it room to room?
Also is it fine to bring my padfolio and some loose paper inside of that for writing stuff down for like a paper LBO or complicated accounting or whatever? Are you ever allowed to ask to jot the numbers down if they don't explicitly tell you?
This program includes a networking dinner and engagement sessions and some other stuff so I will have met these people ahead of the interview, I am sort of worried what I am going to ask at the end of the interview because its gonna be directly after like 2 full days of them telling us everything about the firm. Is there any type of thing I should be asking that wouldn't be covered by the info/engagement/PD sessions? Since I'll have some idea of whos interviewing should I like linkedin stalk them ahead of it so I can ask them specific questions?
How in depth are they going to grill my resume? Should I look back at my internship and like memorize the WACC, Revenue Growth Rate, Terminal Value, Enterprise Value of a model I worked on? Would they ever ask something that specific, or like specific comps from a valuation I worked on? I'm just not sure what to expect and I honestly don't think I could answer those off rip would need to actually look back and memorize a lot of stuff if thats the case.
If they ask me a high level question is it better to start broad and let them follow up or should I just spout stuff off? Like if they ask me to walk me through a dcf, which yes obviously I can do, would it be better to give like a 20 second response and let them follow up and ask like how do you find ur terminal value or something or should I just walk them through everything? And question also goes for Merger Models and LBOs if I am asked to walk through what one is.
This is mostly just a word vomit so not expecting an answer to all of these but anything interview etiquette or just interview related would be helpful, doesn't have to be something I listed here I am sure there are 100 other faux pas that I didn't include here and may do on the interview.
Thanks for any insight
