Hi all,
Had a first round for a year-long IB internship two Fridays ago (Feb 10th) at a EU IB. I was told I'd hear back a week later (ie last Friday the 17th) if I'd made it to second rounds. Still have not heard back, so I am wondering if I should wait further before following-up with HR to ask about the status. For what it's worth, they told me they had a few more candidates to interview.

I feel you, limbos in between are the worse. Sometimes I think what would cost to some people/recruiter, especially smaller firms to just spit it out in a honest amount of time!
I would follow up with a very polite e-mail just to get a sense of where u r standing. It doesn't hurt plus shows u r interested. Go ahead!
Unfortunately, usually they'll let you know soon after the interview whether you've progressed further in the process. Still, it doesn't hurt to shoot HR a short, polite email asking about the status of your candidacy.
