"We are considering you for an internship position and will be in touch with you by the end of the week with next steps."
No one followed-up with me and with the long weekend coming and I screwed? Or do I still have a chance to get a positive reply next week??

Don't sweat it - it's not a dentist appointment - it's a busy week ahead of a long weekend. Don't even sweat it. If you don't hear anything by the latter half of next week (~Thursday), then give them a call (or send an email if you don't have a #) and thank them again for the interest and ask when you can be expecting the call.
